Summary
This article covers common modular AC issues—airflow, filters, noise, and temperature or humidity—and offers maintenance tips to improve performance and efficiency.

1. Airflow Issues
Causes: Insufficient airflow can be due to closed dampers, reversed fans, loose belts, or duct leaks.
Blockages in filters, ducts, or cooling coils also reduce airflow.
Solutions: Ensure dampers are fully open, repair duct leaks, adjust fan speed, and regularly clean or replace filters to restore airflow.
2. Filter Maintenance Cycles
Types: Fresh air filters need weekly cleaning. Primary filters should be replaced every 1–2 months, secondary filters every 2–4 months,
sub-efficient filters every 0.5–1 year, and high-efficiency filters every 1–3 years.
Note: Actual cycles depend on environmental conditions.
3. Noise Issues
Causes: Mechanical vibrations from loose bearings or incorrect shock absorber configurations, high air velocity due to static pressure deviations,
or other abnormal noises from components.
Solutions: Clean fan impellers, replace damaged parts, adjust fan speed, and inspect other components to reduce noise.
4. Temperature and Humidity Issues
Causes: High chiller water temperature, poor insulation, incorrect static pressure, or imbalanced fresh and return air ratios.
Solutions: Adjust water temperature, improve insulation, modify fan speed, and balance air ratios to stabilize temperature and humidity.
Regular maintenance and prompt troubleshooting can significantly enhance the performance and efficiency of modular air-conditioning units.
